Lexington One “Forgives” One Snow Day

nicubunu_Weather_Symbols_Snow_StormAt the March 18, 2014 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board took action to “forgive” one school day missed due to snow and ice.

The legislature passed and the governor signed a joint resolution that allows school boards to take action to waive inclement weather makeup day requirements (R.150, H.4576) once it has used all of the statutorily required make up days remaining on its 2013–2014 academic calendar.

Lexington County School District One students and staff missed three days of instruction due to bad weather days (Jan. 29, Feb. 12 and Feb. 13).

Lexington County School District One students and staff made up one of those days on Friday, March 14, a severe weather makeup day on the district’s academic calendar. The district plans to make up a second day on Monday, April 21. This is the last severe weather makeup day remaining on the 2013–2014 academic calendar.

The district had one other severe weather makeup day on its calendar that it planned to use, Friday, February 14, 2014. However, the district was unable to have school that day due to bad weather.
