Congratulations to our 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year, KATHY SHAHOUD!

Congratulations to Kathy Shahoud, our ESOL teacher and 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year!  She has been in education for 24 years and has been at LES for 10 of those.  She has a BS in Elementary Education, Early Childhood and English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Her Personal Philosophy of Teaching: “I believe to effectively educate a student, we must be aware that many factors come in to play when it comes to academic success.   While it is important to know the student’s current academic levels, it is also important to be aware of his/her family culture, dynamics, education, and background knowledge.  This information allows us to       Kathy Shahoud & Jim Hamby                            be empathetic educators who can meet all                                                                                          the needs of the student.”

And we would be remiss not to offer congratulations to the other four
Teacher of the Year Finalists!  Every one of these teachers are super stars!Christie Hooker – 5th grade, Ashlee Young – 1st grade, Kathy Shahoud – ESOL,
Julie Mentnech – Kindergarten, Rebecca Spires – Art
